O What A Thrill

O girl, any moment
I may kiss your lips
O it's, it's been a while
Since I felt like this
Girl, please don't refuse me
O I'm so scared you will

O what a thrill
O what a thrill
The stars in the sky
Stars stand still
O what a thrill

Woman, words fail me
Your skin is sweet and warm
I want to console you
And hold you in my arms
O once you, you were my baby
You're my baby still

O what a thrill
O what a thrill
The stars in the sky
Stars stand still
O what a thrill
O what a thrill
O what a thrill
O what a thrill

Bless Your Foolish Heart

O every time we go downtown
The boys watch you walk by
You don't see their eyes
But I bet you hear their sighs
The whole darn town's in love with you
But here's the funny part
That you love me, girl,
Bless your foolish heart

Look at the quarterback
And the mayor's son
And the smartest guy in school
You could have had the best and brightest
And you chose the biggest fool
O you may be too good for me
But you can't be too smart
Not if you love me, girl,
Bless your foolish heart

I guess I'll have to learn to live
With being Mr. You
But what else can I do?
O I just hope it's true
Cause I've been doin wrong so long
I've made it a fine art
So if you love me, girl,
Bless your foolish heart

Even the wannabe society
Why they're completely sold
Mr. Murphy dreams about you
And he's ninety-nine years old
O you may be too good for me
But you can't be too smart
Not if you love me, girl,
Bless your foolish heart
Yes, if you love me, girl
Bless your foolish heart

Wear Me Out

Well I'm up in the mornin
Scratchin and yawnin
My baby loves me all night long
You know how to please me
But please take it easy
Cause you know I'm not that strong

I'm workin and workin and workin and workin
I want to scream
I want to shout
I'm huffin and puffin
I can't stop for nothin
Ooo, you bout to wear me out

My friend's gettin bigger
But I keep my figure
I guess I get my exercise
But let's take a breather
I don't want to see the
Circles underneath my eyes

I'm workin and workin and workin and workin
I want to scream
I want to shout
I'm huffin and puffin
I can't stop for nothin
Ooo, you bout to wear me out

Let me tell you, Darlin
All I want to say
I don't want your lovin
Any other way
I'm workin, and workin, and workin', and workin'
And workin' workin' workin' workin'
Workin' workin' workin' workin' yeah

Well I got me a gold mine
I work on my own time
But this job is killin me
It's a love filling station
I don't want no vacation
I'm gonna fill her up for free

I'm workin and workin and workin and workin
I want to scream
I want to shout
I'm huffin and puffin
I can't stop for nothin
Ooo, you bout to wear me out

I'm workin and workin and workin and workin
I want to scream
I want to shout
I'm huffin and puffin
I can't stop for nothin
Ooo, you bout to wear me out

Stand By Me

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
Well I won't be afraid
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand by me

And darling darling
Stand by me
Stand by me
Stand by me
Stand by me
Stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountains
Would crumble to the sea
Well I won't, I won't cry
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand by me

And darling darling
Stand by me
Stand by me
Stand by me
Stand by me
Stand by me

It's A Shame About Him

Last night Ellen bid and made a three no-trump
And took a hundred dollars from her friends
She got a little nest egg when her daddy died
And now they're living on the dividends
Ellen is the chairman of the Children's Fund
She's the biggest donor, don't you know
And I recall the day the drinks were on the house
When Ellen finally beat the tennis pro

But it's a shame about him
It's a shame about him
When he's trying so hard
And he still just can't win
It's a shame about him
Unh unh unh
It's a shame about him

It was back in Eisenhower's second term
Before they put old Elvis in a tank
That Ellen married Bill and Sarah's oldest boy
The wedding was good news down at the bank
Bill Jr. wasn't half the man his father was
And he just let the business go to hell
And if Ellen hadn't waded in and taken charge
The family woulda prob'ly had to sell

But it's a shame about him
It's a shame about him
When he's trying so hard
And he still just can't win
It's a shame about him
Unh unh unh
It's a shame about him

Well I just saw Bill Jr. in the bank today
And he's put on an awful lot of weight
He was off to see his lawyer so he couldn't talk
Already he was half an hour late
But Marjorie the teller says the rumor is
Ellen told Bill Jr. that they're through
Now watch and see, without that man to hold her down
There is just no telling what she'll do

But it's a shame about him
It's a shame about him
When he's trying so hard
And he still just can't win
It's a shame about him
Unh unh unh
It's a shame about him

Sham-A-Ling-Dong-Ding

The boys were singing shing-a-ling
The summer night we met
You were tan and seventeen
O how could I forget
When every star from near and far
Was watching from above
Watching two teenagers fall in love

The way we danced was not a dance
But more a long embrace
We held on to each other and
We floated there in space
And I was shy to kiss you while
The whole wide world could see
So shing-a-ling said everything for me

And O the poor old old folks
They thought we'd lost our minds
They could not make heads or tails
Of the young folks' funny rhymes
But you and I knew all the words
And we always sang along to
O sham-a-ling-dong-ding
Sham-a-ling-dang-dong

So after years and after tears
And after summers past
The old folks tried to warn us
How our love would never last
And all we'd get was soaking wet
From walking in the rain
And singing sham-a-shing-a-ling again

And O the poor old old folks
They smile and walk away
But I bet they did some
Sham-a-lama-ding-dong in their day
I bet that they still close their eyes
And I bet they sing along to
O sham-a-ling-dong-ding
Sham-a-ling-dang-dong

O those sweet old love songs
Every word rings true
Sham-a-ling-dong-ding means sweetheart
Sham-a-ling-dang-dong does too
And it means that right here in my arms
That's where you belong
And it means sham-a-ling-dong-ding
Sham-a-ling-dang-dong

I'm Gonna Miss You Girl

O yellow autumn moon
You find me blue tonight
What with the summer gone
What with the fading light
No sails upon the lake
No children on the shore
No funny sun-burned nose
No little country store
I'll miss the sunny days
I'll miss the rainy days

And you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Oh you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl

O you're a silly man
Don't you know anything
We're gonna stay in touch
We'll give you all a ring
We'll get the pictures out
We'll pass each one around
Our fire on the beach
My goodness, you were brown
And they will live again
We'll make them live again

For you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Oh you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl

You don't know how I feel
I never told you
O I was much too shy
So I'll never hold you
I hide my heart away
I have my reasons
I have my memories
Of when love was in season

You can forget the past
It's only cause to cry
Soon as a love appears
It's time to say goodbye
Wipe all the tears away
They don't do any good
You put me from your mind
Just like I knew you would
Smile when you hear my name
Why can't I do the same

For you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Oh you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Oh you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl
Yeah you, you, I'm gonna miss you, girl

I Turn To My Guitar

The woman in my dreams
Too beautiful to touch
And I'm afraid to speak
I may say too much
And I'll begin to plead
And I'll begin to pray
And show the fool I am
And she'll just run away

I turn to my guitar
And touch her silver strings
O the more I hurt
The prettier she sings
I live on the earth
And love is on a star
And if I can't have love
I turn to my guitar

The lovers from my past
Have vanished in the wind
But they come to my room
To see me now and then
They kiss me on the cheek
And they tell me "Please don't cry"
They say they love me still
And then they say goodbye

I turn to my guitar
And touch her silver strings
O the more I hurt
The prettier she sings
I live on the earth
And love is on a star
And if I can't have love
I turn to my guitar

You hold me to the fire
And read me like a book
I'm older than I act
Younger than I look
And knowing me so well
No, it's no surprise
To see it isn't love
But pity in your eyes

I turn to my guitar
And touch her silver strings
O the more I hurt
The prettier she sings
I live on the earth
And love is on a star
And if I can't have love
I turn to my guitar
And if I can't have love
Then I'll turn to my guitar

Lonely For A While

I guess I took an awful lot for granted
I thought everyone was on the square
I thought if you give love
Then you get love in return
After all, that seems only fair
But you revolutionized my way of thinking
Now I have a whole new style
I don't burn with desire
I don't go near the fire
I think I'll just be lonely for a while

I see the happy couple in the café
Doing like all happy couples do
I'd warn them if I could
But it would do no good
Their world is only big enough for two
So let the lovebirds have their sweet illusions
It's best if I just walk on by and smile
I hope their love is real
I miss the way they feel
But I think I'll just be lonely for a while

O so much for love
I'm fine on my own
How'm I gonna miss
Something I've never known?

I know, I know you never should say never
Cause who knows what tomorrow holds in store
One day love may find out where you're hiding
But you can't find what you're not looking for
So may I have a table in the corner
Or anywhere, just nowhere near the aisle
And yes, it's just myself
No, there'll be no one else
I think I'll just be lonely for a while

I hope their love is real
I miss the way they feel
But I think I'll just be lonely for a while

Eulalie

Eulalie just loves attention
She's a child in that respect
She's a girl whose pretty looks have been a chain around her neck
Cause with all the boys who want her
Why she'll never notice me
And I could really love you, Eulalie

Eulalie was Daddy's daughter
She's her daddy's daughter still
And they live in careless comfort somewhere high upon the hill
But the boys who court her ain't no count
O I wish she could see
Cause I could really love you, Eulalie

Eulalie, if you only knew me
You could see right through me
You'd see I'm sincere
Eulalie, I feel like I know you
I wish I could show you
Hey look over here
Eulalie, Eulalie, Eulalie

I could watch her from a distance
And I'd know just how she feels
I could love her in my mind till I believed that it was real
And I know that all she's missing
Is a steady boy like me
Cause I could really love you, Eulalie

Eulalie, if you only knew me
You could see right through me
You'd see I'm sincere
Eulalie, I feel like I know you
I wish I could show you
Hey look over here
Eulalie, Eulalie, Eulalie

Far Side Bank Of Jordan

I believe my steps are growing wearier each day
Still I've got a journey on my mind
The lures of this old world have ceased
To make me want to stay
And my one regret is leaving you behind

If it should proove to be His will
That I am first to go
And somehow I've a feeling it will be
When it's your turn to travel likewise
Don't you feel lost
For I will be the first one that you see

And I'll be waiting on the far side bank of Jordan
I'll be waiting drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout
And go running through the shallow water reaching for your hand

Through this world we labor hard
To earn our meager fare
It's brought us trembling hands and failing eyes
I'll just sit here on the shore and turn my head away
Until you come then we'll see paradise

And I'll be waiting on the far side bank of Jordan
I'll be waiting drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout
And go running through the shallow water reaching for your hand

And I'll be waiting on the far side bank of Jordan
I'll be waiting drawing pictures in the sand
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout
And go running through the shallow water reaching for your hand

Loose Talk

So long we've been married
Life's burdens we carried
Though faith kept us humble and made our love true
But plans that we make up
Someone seems to break up
Oh, darlin', what else can we do?

We may have to leave here
To find peace of mind, dear
Someplace where we can live a life of our own
For I know you love me And happy we could be
If some folks would leave us alone

When I go out walkin'
There's lots of loose talkin'
They say we're unhappy, and we'll break apart
But darlin' it's not true
Because I still love you
And I do with all of my heart

We may have to leave here
To find peace of mind, dear
Someplace where we can live a life of our own
For I know you love me And happy we could be
If some folks would leave us alone

They say you are leavin'
That you are deceivin'
But you tell me they say the same about me
But we'll show them they're wrong
That loose talk can do harm
And hope that the truth they will see

We may have to leave here
To find peace of mind, dear
Someplace where we can live a life of our own
I know you love me
And happy we could be
If some folks would leave us alone
If some folks would leave us
I wish they would leave us
If only they'd leave us alone
