Back in September I taped a concert for "Spectacle: Elvis Costello with..." at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, with Sheryl Crow, Neko Case, Ron Sexsmith, and Elvis. Cindy bought me a souvenir coffee mug with "Apollo Theater: The Soul of American Culture" on it. I've been wearing it around my neck on a chain. The show first aired December 16th on the Sundance Channel in the US. It will be broadcast on CTV in Canada on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10 pm Eastern. It will be shown on Channel 4 in the UK, but I don't know the date for that show yet. Learn more here.

A dear friend of ours died recently and moved on to a better world, leaving us two of her cats, Daphne and Colonel Rains. The census now lists the Winchester household as two humans and four cats, a one hundred percent increase in the feline population. That's brought an uncomfortable shift in the balance of power. Mistrust and suspicion reign. Funny-smelling strangers are usurping favorite napping spots. Over the years I have served on the staff of many fine cats, happy to offer my skills with a can-opener and a poop-scooper. I have learned to tug the forelock and avert my gaze. My tummy-scritching technique is the talk of the town. But the Bible says we can't serve two masters - I don't like to think how it would feel about four.

You can now buy my last four CDs here (the earlier ones are out of print). The collection of demos, Rough Ideas is still available, too, from Great Big Island. Just click the shop link. You can also get sheet music for several songs now. I don't know why it's taken me so long to do this - it's been kind of fun putting it together. The web site had to be rebuilt for the new shopping function, so I used the opportunity to give the Studio a new look - I've even posted a picture of myself, as you can see. Truly, your cup runneth over.

grapes Here's a schedule of my coming shows.

Thanks for the visit,

Jesse Winchester
